- Time-of-use electric rates begin in June and end on Sept. 30. The
peak hours are from 3 p.m.-8 p.m. each weekday. Weekends and
holidays are excluded from peak hours.
- If you are using electricity for the production of poultry and for use
in irrigation of crops, the usage is exempt from sales tax. You must
fill out an exemption form to comply. Contact us for more information:
(229) 268-2671.
- Middle Georgia EMC’s Annual Meeting of Members will be held on
July 11 at the Dooly Campground. The official notice will be in the
July edition of this magazine. No special mail-out notice will be
provided this year.
- Summer residential rates began in May and will continue through
October. The summer rate is a little higher than in the winter;
however, it is still below average in the state, according to
the Georgia Public Service Commission survey. Log on to
www.psc.state.ga.us, under “Electric—Residential Rate
Surveys” for a comparison.
- Rebates for conversion of gas heat to electric heat pump continue,
even through the summer. You can get $150 per ton of horsepower
capacity and $250 per water heater conversion from gas to electric.
So far, 78 homes have received these rebates.
- Middle Georgia EMC provides 24-hour dispatching in case of
power outages. Unless numerous calls are coming in during a
major outage, you will contact a “live” person instead of an
automated service when you call.
