After completing a comprehensive cost-of-service study in 2024, Middle Georgia Electric Membership Corporation (EMC)’s Board of Directors approved rate adjustments to better reflect current industry conditions and the rising cost of providing power. These adjustments, announced early 2025, include a base charge increase ranging between $2 and $5 per month, annually, beginning April 1, 2026, for a ten-year period.
While power costs have increased, Middle Georgia EMC recognizes the significant impact that recent periods of cold weather have had on our members. Because these unexpected conditions led to higher than anticipated kilowatt-hour (KWH) sales, Middle Georgia EMC’s Board of Directors reduced the Cooperative’s Power Cost Adjustment from its current level by $6.00 per month for accounts using 1,500 KWH, effective February 1, 2026.
When these two changes are fully implemented, the net result for most of Middle Georgia EMC’s members will be a reduction of approximately $4 per month for residential and commercial accounts using 1,500 KWH. All impacts are dependent on a member’s actual monthly usage.
As a member-owned electric cooperative, Middle Georgia EMC remains focused on providing safe, reliable, and affordable power while delivering the best possible value and service to you, our members. We are committed to being good stewards of your resources, and we will continue to ensure that we meet your needs now and in the future.
